Q – How can I diagnose my BoostMAX problems?
BoostMAX Diagnostic LED Information
The LEDs are behind the front panel on the BoostMAX and are not very bright. The LEDs are only used to gather diagnostic information (if a customer is willing and the tech is willing to work with a customer to locate the issue).
BoostMAX: The 12v wire must be connected for the device to function.
FLASHING GREEN LED ONLY = The 12v wire is not connected, or the fuse is blown, or a bad wire connection. If the ONLY the GREEN LED is flashing, the device output is “turned off” and the vehicle will have codes. After correcting the issue: Disconnect the battery or use a DTC code clearing tool to clear codes.
SOLID GREEN LED = Device is powered ON.
SOLID YELLOW LED = Indicates voltage from the Pedal.
SOLID BLUE LED = Indicates CONTROL DIAL SETTING
DIAL: Installed and set at ZERO (we recommend performing this test with the Key On/Engine OFF).
- The Yellow LED result shows that the Pedal Input is GOOD
- The Blue LED result shows that the Dial Output is at Zero and GOOD
- Pedal stock position – Green solid • Yellow solid • Blue solid
- Pedal 50% position – Green SOLID • Yellow blinks slow • Blue solid
- Pedal 100% position – Green SOLID • Yellow blinks fast • Blue solid
DIAL Installed and set at 100% (we recommend performing this test with the Key On/Engine OFF).
- The Yellow LED result shows that the Pedal Input is GOOD
- The Blue LED result shows that the DIAL Output is at 50% and GOOD
- Pedal stock position – Green solid • Yellow solid • Blue solid
- Pedal 50% position – Green solid • Yellow blinks slow • Blue Blinks FAST
- Pedal 100% position – Green solid • Yellow blinks fast • Blue Blinks FAST
Q – Can I stack a JMS BoostMAX and a PedalMAX?
Yes, you can! The PedalMAX will plug into the accelerator pedal and the BoostMAX will plug into the factory harness. Giving you the best of both worlds.
Stacking BoostMAX in line with PedalMAX to further heighten the driving experience by improving all-around throttle response while further enhancing low and mid-range torque.
Q – Will my BoostMAX ruin my warranty?
The BoostMAX should not adversely affect your warranty as long as all recommended installation procedures and guidelines are followed.
To avoid any confusion, we always recommend the removal of any performance products before you take your vehicle to the dealer for warranty service.
Q – How much power should I expect from the installation of the BoostMAX?
It depends directly on the particular EcoBoost platform it is being installed on and what octane fuel is used.
Please refer to the application guide and select your particular recommended BoostMAX for a reference to power gains.
Q – Will BoostMAX adversely affect my fuel mileage?
Yes and No. We have gotten a lot of feedback from customers that they have actually gotten better fuel mileage due to the increase in power. When first installed customers may “Feel the Freedom” of the increased power and drive a bit more aggressively and use a bit more fuel because of their temporary “spirited” driving.
Q – Can BoostMAX be stacked with an aftermarket tune?
When stacking JMS BoostMAX with an aftermarket ECU tune, it will need to be specifically set up to work with BoostMAX (modified so NO boost is added in the tune).
Q – I live in California so Is the BoostMAX emissions compliant?
